Cécile and Michel

In a small house, a young couple has three children, among which twins both handicapped from birth. Their handicap will evolve in such a way that they will remain seated in a wheelchair and require increased attention from their parents. The today’s house doesn’t offer enough space for this large family. The parents’ wish was to have a bedroom for the twins put in on the ground floor, large enough to allow them to execute their physiotherapy exercises. The idea was to enlarge the ground floor at the street side, playing on the existing volume in order to form one single volume. The house is set up around a central patio, allowing the light to penetrate in the different room and the parents to keep an eye on their children wherever they are.
